Nutrition in Pregnancy Health

Approximately 300 additional calories are needed daily to maintain a healthy pregnancy. These calories should come from a proper diet of protein, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, with sweets and fats kept to a minimum.

Eating a healthy diet during pregnancy is linked to good fatal brain development, a healthy birth weight, and it reduces the risk of many birth defects. Good nutrition is thought to help balance mood swings and it may improve work and delivery as well.
